About my research
I am a research scientist at German Federal Institute of Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) with a focus on understanding the temporal, chemical, and physical evolution of magmatic systems, particularly through the lens of intrusive rocks.
My research lies at the intersection of igneous petrology, geochemistry, structural geology and field studies. I study the evolution of magmas in several tectonic settings with a focus on subduction zones. Among others, I am currently actively investigating the following themes related to magmatic systems; (a) the role of amphibole as a driver and recorder of magma differentiation, in particular changes of magmatic oxygen fugacity, (b) dynamics and temporal evolution of upper crustal reservoirs, (c) the volcanic-plutonic connection, and (d) the spatial, structural, and chemical evolution of magmatic arcs over time.
