About my research
I am a research scientist at German Federal Institute of Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) with a focus on understanding the temporal, chemical, and physical evolution of magmatic systems, particularly through the lens of intrusive rocks. At BGR, I am part of the Polar Geology group working in the Arctic and Antarctic.
My research lies at the intersection of igneous petrology, geochemistry, structural geology and field studies. I study the evolution of magmas in several tectonic settings with a focus on subduction zones. Among others, I am currently actively investigating the following themes related to magmatic systems; (a) the role of amphibole as a driver and recorder of magma differentiation, in particular changes of magmatic oxygen fugacity, (b) dynamics and temporal evolution of upper crustal reservoirs, (c) the volcanic-plutonic connection, and (d) the spatial, structural, and chemical evolution of magmatic arcs over time.
